About You

A confident teacher of degree-level English Language, you will be capable of teaching general and foundational modules in Level 4 (first-year undergraduate) and subject study skills.

You will be committed to student success and innovation in Learning, Teaching and Assessment, and prepared to become reflective practitioners of HE teaching. The post will also support early-career academics who may be relatively new to HE teaching, in providing subject-specific mentoring and staff development within the Department.

About the Role

The BA English Language programme provides students with a thorough grounding in all aspects of linguistic study, as well as ample opportunities to specialise in key strength areas such as sociolinguistics and language acquisition. The BA curriculum is underpinned by current research activity, and there is a growing community of postgraduate research students.

You will be expected to make a substantial contribution to BA teaching, playing a significant role in the delivery of core and optional English Language modules, especially in the fields of forensic linguistics and / or sociolinguistics.
