We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a PhD or equivalent in either environmental chemistry or analytical chemistry to work on a 12 month position exploring the fate and occurrence of pharmaceuticals in the natural environment. The project is part of the 10.3 M Euro Innovative Medicines Initiatives ‘iPiE’ project which involves 23 partners from Europe and N. America. iPiE aims to develop innovative approaches for environmental risk assessment and prioritisation of pharmaceuticals. You will perform laboratory-based research aimed at understanding the factors and processes affecting the levels of exposure of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in the natural environment. You will develop predictive models for determining the level of exposure of invertebrates to unstudied APIs. You will design and lead field monitoring experiments to evaluate the performance of the developed models under ‘real world’ situations.
