We have a full time vacancy for an experienced Compute Officer (Platforms Officer), who will be expected to hit the ground running with substantial experience of server and systems administration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing technical standards, ensuring effective performance availability and capacity planning are maintained. Technical responsibility encompasses expertise in compute, virtualization, storage, Windows/Red Hat operating systems, patching, enabling services and applications.
You will be confident, positive and have a flexible approach to problem solving and comfortable speaking to non-technical as well as technical staff. An understanding of the ITIL framework would be advantageous.
The role is part of the IT Operations Team offering a 24 hour Out of Hours scheme to cover university critical services. Support of the University’s core services on the out of hours rota may be required by the post holder.
Reporting to the IT Systems Manager, you will also work alongside the Applications Team, the Project Management Office and most importantly our customers, so great communications and presentation skills are essential.
This is a high profile role in a busy team of talented men and women, dealing with diverse requests and varied solutions.
