The University now seeks to appoint an experienced and inspirational new Head of the School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED). Providing academic leadership and management to the School, the new Head will be responsible for further developing an already strong performance in the fields of architecture, geography, global development, planning and environmental management, and education.
SEED aims to understand, and improve the uneven relationships between society, economy, and the environment. With teaching and research spanning five distinct yet complementary disciplines, the School provides a unique environment for staff to collaborate and work together in a combined and interdisciplinary way. Consistently ranked as one of the leading Schools for the study of human and physical geography, social justice, economic development and planning and environmental management in the UK, SEED aims to create an international beacon for the study of society, economy, and the environment.
Reporting to the Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, the new Head will play an instrumental part in the development and implementation of the University’s ambitious 2020 vision and will ensure that the School makes a full contribution towards this.
The successful candidate will possess a strong record of academic achievement alongside a significant record of management and leadership. Articulating a clear and inspiring vision for the continued development of the School, the Head will work towards building upon the SEED’s already outstanding international reputation.
