Postdoctoral Research Associates in Theoretical Particle Physics

University of Edinburgh - School of Physics and Astronomy / College of Science and Engineering

Applications are invited for up to five Postdoctoral Research Associates in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Edinburgh, to work in the Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics.

Candidates are expected to have, or to be working towards a PhD in theoretical particle physics and proven expertise and technical abilities required to undertake world class research. For these particular posts we seek theorists who will support our current research in collider physics, gauge theory amplitudes, PDFs, final state MCs, lattice QCD, flavour physics, or indeed any aspect of work related to the standard model of particle physics or its possible extensions. Strong candidates working in any of these areas are encouraged to apply, since we expect to make a broad range of appointments. One of the positions will be funded by the ERC project "QCD for the future of particle physics (QCDforfuture)". All positions will initially be for two years, with possible extension to three.

All applications should include a completed Application Form, a Curriculum Vitae, a Statement of Research Interests, and names and contact details for three referees. Please choose referees who can send letters immediately, preferably before the closing date for applications.

For further information please contact Prof. Richard Ball (r.d.ball@ed.ac.uk), Prof. Peter Boyle (paboyle@ph.ed.ac.uk), or Dr Jenni Smillie (j.m.smillie@ed.ac.uk).

Salary will be at UE07 in the range £32,004 - £38,183, depending on experience.

The closing date for applications is 04 January 2017. Appointments will usually begin on 01 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Closing Date: 04 January 2017 at 5pm GMT
