Research Assistant

Join a dynamic research team focused on the development of innovative viral vaccines for emerging infectious diseases. Under the guidance of Dr Michael Jarvis (Principal Investigator, PI) and other senior laboratory personnel (School of Biomedical and Healthcare Sciences), you will be responsible for providing research support to a number of on-going scientific research projects in the Jarvis laboratory.

You will have a sound scientific background with technical experience in basic molecular biology and virological techniques, including mammalian virus production and quantitation, molecular cloning and protein detection by western blot. Experience with cell culture is essential, and experience in manipulation of bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs) is highly desirable.

With necessary guidance, you will be comfortable in trouble-shooting complex experimental technical issues that arise in the laboratory. In addition to the basic scientific research role, the position will provide administrative, organizational and laboratory support for the projects.


This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
