Based in the Division of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Glasgow, working under the supervision of Professor Jon Cooper in collaboration with Professor Manuel Salmeron Sanchez University of Glasgow and Molly Stevens Imperial College, you will contribute to a cross-disciplinary EPSRC Programme Grant by working in teams formed with collaborative partners in the Universities of Glasgow, Nottingham and Imperial College.
Possessing demonstrable ability in Raman spectroscopy/imaging the successful candidate will develop new applications in Raman imaging (or other analytical techniques) and microfluidics to investigate mechanisms of stem cell differentiation in order to produce new biomaterials including bone, blood and cardiac tissues. One of the aims of this post is to be able to monitor the spatial and temporal distribution of growth factors in both cells and polymeric delivery systems.
You will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project, as opportunities allow.
The researcher will be recruited to work on a programme grant with the Principal Investigator in Glasgow initially and your place of work might change depending on the direction of the research.
This is an open ended contract with two year’s fixed funding with yearly extensions being allocated subject to approval at the annual meeting of the Advisory Board.
