The College wishes to recruit a part-time aquatics support technician to work in the Aquatic Resources Centre to support the work of the Environmental Biology research theme. This is a maternity cover post, available immediately on a 12 month fixed term contract and is based at the Streatham Campus in Exeter.
The successful candidate will have a broad role supporting all areas of the facility, including the plant room, animal holding rooms and laboratory spaces but with a strong focus on the animal rooms and animal husbandry requirements. Therefore, the successful candidate should be familiar working with aquatic organisms and ideally familiar working in a research and teaching environment.
Along with cleaning, feeding, and health monitoring of the aquatic organisms the post holder will also support more ancillary roles such as maintaining a clean facility (cleaning floors, emptying bins), dealing with deliveries, stock taking and stock management of consumables and keeping equipment clean and stored appropriately.
The candidate will be expected to help promote a culture of care through the implementation of best practices. Opportunities for training, attending appropriate conferences and visiting other research facilities will be available within this role.
