Assistant Professor in Human Geography

We are looking for an Assistant Professor in human geography with primary expertise in urban research.  Various areas of specialisation will be considered, including but not limited to health or wellbeing, housing, transportation, population and migration, and China urban studies.  The appointee is expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as supervise student projects at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Geography or a cognate discipline.  Incumbents possessing a record of high-quality publications, specific geographical skills such as expertise in research techniques or methodological approaches (e.g., GIS and quantitative methods) would be an asset.  Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English are essential since the subjects will be taught in English.  Prior university-level teaching experience would be advantageous.  Recent PhD graduates who wish to develop an academic career in tertiary education are welcome to apply. 

Terms of appointment:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers competitive package which include gratuity/retirement benefits, annual leave, medical and dental scheme, and wherever applicable housing assistance and relocation allowance. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years commencing August 2017.  Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
