HR & Staffing Officer

We are seeking an individual with strong experience as a HR generalist for the key role of Human Resources and Staffing Officer, reporting to the Finance & Human Resources Manager. You will provide HR advice and guidance to managers and staff on a range of issues relating to policies, procedures, terms and conditions and employee relations as well as good HR practice. You will be building, fostering, developing and nurturing effective working relationships which will allow you to have an impact in effectively influencing and supporting managers and staff.

You will also have responsibility for general HR related activities and administration, which will include recruitment, writing agreement letters for service contracting staff, monitoring staff induction, probation and appraisals and processing payroll requests.

This is a full time position which is challenging and is a varied role, and the need to maintain flexibility to meet tight deadlines is crucial.

You will be a HR professional with strong experience of providing high quality and effective HR generalist support and advice to managers and staff, ideally in a higher education HR setting.

With extensive experience in a similar position the role holder must have a professional and proactive attitude and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This is not a central HR role in a team of other HR professionals. The role holder must have the ability to work with limited supervision and take responsibility for achieving targets and deadlines. The role holder must demonstrate effective project management and planning skills with a commitment to providing an efficient and professional service to colleagues and stakeholders alike.

You will have had experience in undertaking numerical calculations (i.e. annual leave, salary, etc.) with the ability to analyse and solve problems by implementing practical solutions.
