Senior Research Administrator

We have a full-time vacancy for fixed term appointment for 12 months in the interim for a suitable candidate to fulfil a challenging and rewarding role within our Joint Research Management Office. This is a central office which supports all research undertaken in Queen Mary University and Bart’s Health NHS Trust. The office comprises of a Pre-Award Section, Post Award and Governance Section.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the Post Award section. The main tasks will be to provide financial administration for a portfolio of externally funded studies. The post holder will advise our academic & clinical clients on the financial regulations relating to their individual projects, and ensure income is recovered in a timely manner and funds to departments are correctly distributed, preparation of final expenditure submissions & authorising research funded staff approvals. The post reports to the Post Award Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a strong financial background with previous experience of research administration in an HEI environment. They must have excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills and demonstrate a strong team-work ethic. This role demands the holder to work on their own initiative and have the ability to manage several projects at once. Previous experience in a similar environment would be advantageous.

The position is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months in the interim with a salary range of £32,405 - £38,062 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
