Accountable to: Professor of Creative Practice

This job description is indicative, not prescriptive, and the balance of duties will be in accordance with the contract of employment.

Role Summary:

The Research Assistant will be part of an international multidisciplinary team of researchers undertaking a three year AHRC funded design research project investigating innovative ways of supporting the wellbeing of people with late stage dementia through the development of ludic artefacts.

The specific focus of the role is to support the research team in designing playful objects, providing technical expertise in physical computing and electronics. The RA will also be expected to assist the design phase of the project and translate design ideas into working prototypes that have potential for manufacture. The role will require strong communication skills, and a willingness to share ideas and work collaboratively in a team.

LAUGH is one of a number of applied inclusive design research projects within the portfolio of CARIAD at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The RA will be expected to contribute to the life and functioning of the centre by attending and contributing to CARIAD events and presentations.
