Senior Science Administrator

The Sainsbury Laboratory

The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) is a world-leading research institute working on the science of plant/microbe interactions.

Stomata, the pores on a leaf surface (shown here in green), are required for plant gas exchange, but represent prominent entry routes for a variety of pathogens.

TSL has developed an enviable reputation for the quality of its fundamental scientific research and is also committed to delivering effective solutions to the agriculture community.  We conduct daring, long-term research and have state-of-the-art technologies and support services to enable this cutting-edge science. TSL researchers are addressing some of the most important challenges in reducing world-wide losses to crop diseases and ensuring sustainable food security in the face of climate change and emerging diseases.

The opportunity has arisen for a motivated Science Administrator to provide high-quality administrative and research services support to our senior management team, group leaders and researchers.

You will provide high-level, proactive administrative support and become a key member of our small and nimble Administration and HR team.  Reporting to the Head of Administration, you will work largely independently and develop positive professional relationships with internal colleagues, external stakeholders, organisations and professional bodies.  You will have excellent administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills and be confident in handling information that may be confidential and/or sensitive.

You must be able to work independently and as an effective member of our team, and be comfortable interacting with colleagues on multiple levels and within an international blend of cultures.  Your positive attitude and interest in helping us to deliver our world-class science will be critical.

This is a part-time, six-month post in the first instance and we are happy to be flexible on exact working hours for the right individual.
