A fixed term appointments for 18 months
As part of the Horizon 2020 project STARCELL, a research position is available to work on the theory and simulation of next-generation materials for solar energy conversion in the group of Professor Aron Walsh.

The Department of Materials, http://www.imperial.ac.uk/engineering/departments/materials/ wishes to appoint an outstanding individual with a strong track record in first-principles electronic structure calculations to work in the research group of Professor Aron Walsh http://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/a.walsh. The post is funded by the STARCELL project connecting leading research groups on photovoltaics in Europe, USA and Japan. You will play a leading role in computational support for the development and characterization of new materials based on first-principles electronic structure calculations. Areas of interest include, but are not restricted to, electronic excitations, theoretical spectroscopy, transport phenomena, materials data and informatics.
You will also be a conscientious, innovative scientist who has successfully completed or is about to obtain, a PhD (or equivalent) in theoretical or computational physical science. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate an ability to understand first-principles quantum-mechanical calculations in detail and have an understanding of and interest in solar cells.
The post is available to start from January 2017.
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £31,740 - £33,370 per annum.
