About the role

The University of Derby has an ambitious vision with high aspirations and is looking to recruit a full time Senior Lecturer (Academic Lead) to join the University of Derby Online Learning to shape and deliver online and blended learning programmes in business and management in collaboration with the Derby Business School.

The University of Derby Online Learning is a separate department of the University of Derby, dedicated to the needs of learners studying online. We have approximately 3500 online learners in a range of subject areas and have built a sector leading approach to online learning since the Departments inception in 2011. We develop and provide a range of qualifications focussed primarily on learners in the workplace including Degrees, short courses and massive open online courses (MOOCS). We have ambitions of providing doctoral programmes in the future. This is an exciting time for the department as we continue to see the benefits of the infrastructure we have developed for Online Learning. 

The role will primarily focus on the management within our Business and Management portfolio of programmes contributing to undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes such as the MBA as part of a team effort. Our programmes in business and management are designed to bridge the gap between education and employment, providing opportunities for learners to enhance their careers with relevant learning. We work closely with professional bodies such as the Chartered Management Institute, who accredit our undergraduate degree programme. This role provides an opportunity for the right individual to take forward the business and management portfolio and other online programmes, developing links locally, nationally and internationally for the benefit of the curriculum and our learners.

With significant success already achieved and our ambitious future growth plan, this an exciting and critical stage in our development and we wish to add further talent and experience to our award-winning team. The successful candidate will be a digitally literate, creative and innovative possessing a good degree, a PhD and a willingness/ ability to deliver research outcomes that will contribute to the REF through direct independent research or by collaborative engagement with other research activity within the university.
