The role and its responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity to work closely with administrative and academic colleagues as a proactive member of the School of Law. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective and responsive academic-facing administrative support for the School's prestigious LLB programme, in many areas such as coordination of exam marking, developing course proposals, planning teaching, timetabling, management of the virtual learning environment, preparation for examination boards, etc. You will be work with colleagues in the School of Law administrative team, which supports the work of the Department as a whole, and you will liaise with colleagues within the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences and across SOAS, reporting to the Department Manager.

Skills and experience

You will have previous experience of office administration, ideally within a Higher Education context, together with the ability to advise and influence both academic and administrative colleagues alike. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to build strong working relationships with people at all levels and across SOAS, is essential. You will be highly organised, self-motivated and able to identify and implement creative improvements to procedures and systems. You will also ideally have experience of servicing academic committees, including writing minutes and reports, as well as experience of quality assurance processes in Higher Education.
