Administrative Officer (Compliance)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the University’s Information Compliance Team. This small but busy team handles the University’s compliance with the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts, including: processing subject access and freedom of information requests; advising colleagues across the University on data protection; responding to data security incidents; drafting policies and procedures; and the delivery of training. The team will also be involved in preparing for changes in information law, for example, the adoption of the EU General Data Protection Regulation in May 2018.

In this role, the post holder will have an excellent opportunity to experience compliance work spanning the breadth of the University’s activity, and to take responsibility for important areas of work in the context of an evolving regulatory environment.

The successful applicant will have experience of working in a compliance-related field in a comparable organisation and/or in a legal and/or regulatory environment; excellent oral, presentation and written skills; strong interpersonal and organisational skills; an appreciation of the importance of producing accurate work; and the ability to deal with confidential information with discretion.
