Fully funded PhD opportunities in Particle Science

EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Complex Particulate Products and Processes CP3

The CP3 CDT is looking for science and engineering graduates to train as future research leaders in Chemical Product Design. Advanced formulated products are worth more than £200 billion a year to the UK economy. We focus on the science and engineering behind these products, which span a huge range of applications. From healthcare and pharmaceuticals, to agrochemicals and paint products, it is our remit to make lives safer, healthier, more sustainable and more efficient. We work across the whole supply chain, from discovering new materials, getting these things on the manufacturing line, to delivering them to consumers.

We offer a 4 year, fully funded, integrated MSc and PhD programme in complex particulate products & processes. You will be trained in a multidisciplinary environment to become experts in multi-scale modelling, advanced nano/mesoscale measurement, application and process design. Your research will develop the fundamental understanding, characterisation methods and modelling techniques needed to improve complex products that contain particles, droplets or bubbles. It will also be informed by our close working relationship with numerous industry partners, spanning several sectors and you will complete a period of research at one of these partners.

To view a current list of projects and industrial partners, please see our website particulates.leeds.ac.uk

The CP3 CDT is based in the School of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Leeds; it brings together researchers from different disciplines chemical engineering, chemistry, design, physics, food science and has access to the world leading analytical, experimental and computational facilities of a Russell Group University.

Rolling monthly deadlines until filled:

The CP3 CDT has a series of application deadlines through the academic year. The next application deadline for Sept 2017 entry is 09:00 on Thursday 31st August. Interviews are likely to take place the week beginning Monday 4th September. Please note that full applications received before this deadline may be considered for an early interview.

We welcome scholarship applications from all suitably-qualified candidates, but UK black and minority ethnic (BME) researchers are currently under-represented in our Postgraduate Research community, and we would therefore particularly encourage applications from UK BME candidates. All scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit.

University Research Postgraduate Application Forms can be found here.

Entry requirements
A degree equivalent to a UK upper second class honours 2:1 , or higher, or a Master’s degree Distinction in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
