The University of Huddersfield is a successful, innovative, modern University with a proud past and ambitions for the future, including the relocation to a £28m building in 2019. We are host to over 24,000 students drawn from over 120 countries, and we pride ourselves on the quality of our teaching (we are the UK’s leading Institution for National Teaching Fellowships) and the employability of our graduates. Our research profile is growing apace as evidenced by our performance in the 2014 REF exercise and indeed the growing funding and investment that is evident throughout campus.
Located within the School of Art, Design and Architecture, led by Professor Mike Kagioglou, the Department of Fashion and Textiles aims to be recognised as a global area of excellence in fashion and textiles teaching and research. Close links with industry offer students the opportunity to develop live briefs with exceptional brands, and the recognition of the Department’s ability to link traditional methods with new technologies has enabled pioneering engagement and collaboration worldwide.
We are seeking to appointment a Professor and Head of Department who will build upon our considerable success to date. With a strong personal research track record and passion for teaching and learning, he or she will have the managerial wherewithal and tenacity to take the Department still further in its evolution. This is a time of great change within UK Higher Education, and sustaining the University of Huddersfield’s strong performance trajectory will require Heads of Department to deliver innovative solutions to new challenges. We believe that this is a fantastic opportunity for a talented academic to join a truly ambitious Institution.
