This is a fixed term post until 31st December 2020. 

The normal expectation is that the successful applicant will be appointed to the minimum of the scale with annual increments on 1 October each year (subject to completing six months service).

Information Services and Systems (ISS) provides library, ICT, management information, media and careers services to staff and students across the University. ISS includes the Swansea Employability Academy, Swansea Academy Learning and Teaching and Swansea Academy for Advanced Computing. It also provides services to other academic institutions, project partners and the general public.

The post holder will be expected to take a lead role in multiple project developments within Swansea University, ISS, Academy for Advanced Computing, Systems team, managing and co-ordinating the workload of colleagues across the institution. Working closely with Domain Specific High Performance Computing Software Developers to support the constantly growing HPC activity and research community at Swansea University

The HPC research community at Swansea University includes very experienced as well as novice users, and the post holder is expected to engage effectively with all stakeholders, to enable continuity of support for Research services within the academy’s remit. All project staff involved in the Academy research support activity will be expected to provide HPC domain specific support to a variety of High Performance Computer Academic users engaged in research at the forefront of scientific, medical and engineering subjects, on software projects that range from one week to several months in length. Collaborations with researchers in and outside the consortium, as requested by the specifically supported projects, is anticipated. The post holder will have a detailed understanding of the core Networking and HPC facilities within the Academy
