Research Radiographer

We are seeking to appoint a Research Radiographer within the Cardiff University within the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Research Facility (MSKBRF) to provide professional and high-quality musculoskeletal Magnetic resonance (MR) scanning radiographic services at the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC), and support for a new Dynamic Biplanar Fluoroscopy Facility that is currently under development in the MSKBRF, School of Engineering. The successful applicant will be expected to support activities within the MR Suites and Fluoroscopy Laboratory. The applicant will be a fully qualified, state-registered Diagnostic Radiographer with experience in cross-sectional imaging (MR, or MR and computed tomography (CT).

Training for operation and use of our MR and fluoroscopy systems will be provided. 

The post would suit a self-motivated Radiographer who is interested in research and clinical trial MR and Fluoroscopy and who is to work unsupervised with colleagues from a variety of clinical and research backgrounds.

There will be some flexibility in the day/time of scanner operator coverage, as agreed with line manager and dependent upon fluctuating scanner demand. There is a minimum weekend day scanning requirement of 1 weekend day per month, and occasional evening scanning, flexible within core working hours.

The MSKBRF is a world-leading research centre at Cardiff University. Current facilities include 3 clinical/teaching and fluoroscopy motion capture laboratories, with one full fluoroscopy laboratory shielded for use, patient changing and examination rooms and research offices, based in the new MSKBRF on The Parade, Cardiff, and a 3T Siemens Connectom MR scanner, based in the new CUBRIC imaging facility in Maindy Road, Cardiff. The combined new facilities provide leading research facilities in Europe for MSK and MR.

The post is a part time (40%) position amounting to 14 hours per week for a fixed term period of 3 years.
