The department of Film and Journalism within the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education seek to appoint a Head of School of Film and Journalism.
Heads of department hold key leadership and management roles within the faculty structures. They are the lead manager for academic provision, share responsibility for achieving faculty key performance indicators, and are required to work collaboratively in delivering objectives, and will develop and deliver a departmental business plan which supports the faculty’s aims and objectives; to contribute to the strategic and operational management of the faculty.
It is essential that you have a substantial record of achievement as an academic and/or practitioner, covering teaching, research, and professional practice in a relevant subject area. A successful track record of academic management within an education-based organisation of comparable size and complexity, together with excellent leadership, inter-personal, and project management skills.

This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island, and Watershed, and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects. Through a combination of University sites and partnerships with creative and cultural organisations in the city, we have developed a network of cultural and creative spaces. These enable our students and staff to develop their professional practice in inspiring learning environments as well as provide opportunities for creative collaboration and networking.
