Assistant/Associate Professorship in the Field of Digital Methods

The School of Culture and Communication invites applications for an assistant professorship or an associate professorship at the Department of Digital Design & Information Studies with a special focus on digital methods. 

The assistant professorship is a full-time, three-year training position, and subject to appropriate funding there will be an opportunity to apply for a subsequent associate professorship. The associate professorship is a permanent position.  

The successful applicant will be expected to begin on October 1st 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position
The position focuses on the novel field of digital methods in relation to strategies for critically collecting, analysing and interpreting both small and large datasets in the research of digitally saturated contexts. The successful applicant will be expected to further the integration of digital methods at the department through teaching and research at the highest international level and in relation to one or more of the department’s research fields, e.g. STS studies, interaction design, communication studies, digital aesthetics and digital culture. 

Research
The School of Culture and Communication emphasises high-quality research and attaches great importance to interdisciplinary collaboration, participation in collective research projects, and the ability to attract external research funding. Accordingly, we are looking for a candidate with a strong profile and track record in the study of methodologies, tools or frameworks related to several of the following areas:  

  • The use of online and digital technologies to collect and analyse research data
  • New methods for managing, collecting and presenting data, e.g. data visualisations
  • Critical analysis of the culture, use and design of digital technologies for data-driven research
  • Text analysis/content analysis/text mining
