Optometrist Clinic Supervisors

Cardiff University - School of Optometry & Vision Sciences

The School of Optometry and Vision Sciences are looking to appoint a number of Clinic Supervisors to support our Eye Clinic in delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate level, inspiring future Optometrists as they begin patient encounters.

Under the assistance of a mentor, you will contribute to the advancement of student clinical competency and support the School’s outstanding record of graduate quality.

Supervisors are invited to contribute to a variety of undergraduate clinics, including Primary Care, Contact Lenses, Binocular Vision, Low Vision and Special Assessment.

Important Notes:
We will be making a number of contracted appointments with regular hours, working over 22 weeks of the year. Our contracts will be offered on a permanent basis, unless the clinics worked are specifically covering staff absence, in which case they are likely to be for one academic year. We are also seeking applications from qualified Optometrists who would like the opportunity to provide locum cover should ad-hoc staff absences occur. Please state in your application, which type(s) of contract you would consider.

Salary: £26,052 - £30,175 per annum, pro-rata for hours worked (Grade 5)
This equates to a basic rate of £14.28 - £16.54 per hour. However, please note that a reviewable, non-pensionable market supplement of £8.79 per hour will also apply to this post, which when applied, brings the salary to £23.07 – £25.33 per hour before deductions and holiday allowances.

Please be aware that Cardiff University reserves the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received.
