About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Academic Collections Assistant to join our growing organisation. Within this role you will support the effective delivery of Library & Learning Resources within GSM London; which include both physical and online resources. Reporting to the Collection Development Librarian you will assist in the provision of library services to support teaching, learning and research, including collection development and academic liaison, to insure that appropriate information resources and effective information skills are delivered. In addition, you will assist in the administration of inter-library loan and digitisation services and work closely with other Library & Learning Resources staff, the academic faculty, other professional departments and students to ensure that services meet the needs of students and staff and are aligned across the college.

What we’re looking for

To be successful, you will need to be degree qualified and demonstrate experience in a related role within an academic or specialised library service. You will possess superior customer service and communication skills, initiative and have the ability to be planned and organised in a busy environment.  In addition you will be proficient in the use of library management systems and MS office applications. Your experience in selection and acquisition of stock, processing of new materials, catalogue maintenance and user education will be highly regarded.

Please note: This role may require occasional flexibility in working hours in order to deliver information skills workshops, or during peak times and times of need in order to support the opening hours of our Library Services which operate from 8.30 am – 9.00 pm Monday to Friday and on occasional weekends.
