The Post

We are seeking two (0.5 FTE) motivated, enthusiastic and talented nurses to join the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport who can help us continue to build on our success. We are particularly keen to hear from nurses with a wide range of professional and clinical expertise that can contribute to our undergraduate nursing programmes and CPD delivery (Adult and Mental Health).

As a lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport you will play a key role in supporting our undergraduate nursing students to meet the needs of a modern profession. You will possess sufficient breadth and depth of contemporary health knowledge to inspire and engage student nurses to learn. You will be expected to contribute to teaching and scholarly activities across our BSc (Hons) Nursing programmes and CPD activities, seeking ways to improve the overall experience of students in the department.

Description of Duties

  • Teach as a member of a team to deliver nursing modules at undergraduate level within the Faculty, working as part of the programme team.
  • Plan and deliver innovative approaches to teaching and support for students from settings such as skills labs, small group tutorials and large lectures.
  • Undertake student assessment as required, including the preparation of assignments and setting and marking of examinations.
  • Communicate using a range of media, including communicating complex confidential issues orally, in writing and electronically relevant to professional nursing practice and NMC requirements.
  • Act as a personal tutor to student nurses, providing pastoral care as required.
  • Carry out administrative tasks and other reasonable duties as determined by the teaching pod lead/Head of health sciences.
