The Post

We are seeking to appoint a Lectureship in Politics and Public Policy with significant lecturing responsibilities. The research post is funded by the Horizon 2020 programme (IMAJINE) to help fulfil a work package, led by Professor Paul Cairney, on evidence-informed policy transfer to reduce territorial inequalities. You will also share Professor Cairney’s teaching responsibilities at undergraduate and postgraduate level (Professor Cairney leads the Master of Public Policy). An ability to perform literature/ evidence reviews, conduct elite interviews across Europe, and deliver research-led modules at Honours level and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations as well as contribute to team-taught modules in Politics in semesters 1-3, is essential.

As well as making a contribution to our teaching programme, the appointee would be expected to work with Professor Cairney to pursue an ambitious programme of research, including research outputs and funding applications, and to undertake research supervision relevant to their expertise and experience.

Description of Duties

  • Produce research outputs at an appropriate level for inclusion in REF.
  • Work with Professor Cairney on the IMAJINE project, specifically contributing literature/ evidence reviews and conducing elite interviews across Europe.
  • Work, together with Professor Cairney, on an ambitious research agenda that can result in research income capture at an appropriate level.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate core modules in Politics.
  • Develop and deliver research-led modules for the undergraduate programmes in Politics.
  • Supervise undergraduate and Masters dissertations.
  • Assume administrative duties as prescribed by the Head of Division.
