Digital Journalism Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

University of the West of England, Bristol - Film & Journalism

Working in the Broadcast & Journalism cluster of the School of Film and Journalism at UWE, this post will focus on teaching and supporting students to better understand and use digital journalism skills.

This post will require an experienced academic with significant experience of digital skills as they are applied to journalism in the broadest sense. You will be familiar at a practical and theoretical level with, for example, content management systems, coding, the design of apps and APIs, the application of social media platforms and data analysis. You should also have a good working knowledge of legal and ethical issues as they apply to journalism. 

The post holder would also be expected to be research active, with an understanding of the theoretical context for journalism and ability to communicate complex critical concepts.

You will have:

  • A good first degree in a relevant subject area.
  • A postgraduate degree in in a relevant subject area or relevant professional experience.

This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects.
