The spintronics group at the London Centre for Nanotechnology in UCL is looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher who will work on a Leverhulme Trust funded project "spin-ice spintronics: surface and thin film probes of emergent electromagnetism". The aim of the project is to use these spin-ice exotic properties for spintronic technologies. To do so, we will test our highly-original research ideas using the capability of our dedicated research laboratories. The main duty of this position is to fabricate and characterise our spin-ice materials, using the-state-of-the-art spin dynamics facilities in Dr Kurebayashi’s lab ( Also, the successful candidate will be working with other group members (PhD students and postdocs in other projects), to collectively advance our knowledge of science.

This position is funded for 36 months in the first instance.

Applicants should have a higher degree qualification (PhD) or equivalent in the Physics or similar disciplines, or at least have submitted their thesis. And they should have substantial experience of GHz high-frequency experiments and understanding of related theories. Candidates should also have excellent written and verbal communication in English, should be a team player and have commitment to high quality research and a interest for cutting-edge science.
