Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual of the highest calibre with an excellent publication record in the area of photonics to a permanent position as a Reader, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer, in Physics to be held in the School of Science and Engineering at the University of Dundee. The level of appointment will be based on experience.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Physics, or a related discipline, and will contribute to the teaching of physics and maintain, or develop, a vigorous independent, experimental research programme. Current strengths within the School include biophysics, especially biophotonics, soft matter physics and computational biophysics; laser-matter interactions; nano and functional materials including energy; electronic, optical materials and devices; photonics, including complex photonics and laser development; space technologies; solar physics and astrophysics. We are particularly looking for a candidate working within the broad area of photonics, for example complex photonics, biophotonics, soft-matter photonics, nanophotonics, or laser development. Candidates with industrial research links are of particular interest. We encourage applications from holders of personal fellowships.

We deliver single and joint honours MSc and BSc courses in Physics and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching on these programmes.
