Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Stem Cell Gene Expression

We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral research assistant to join the Technology Centre in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (Headington) in the Department of Engineering Science that is directed by Professors Zhanfeng Cui and Cathy Ye. The post is funded by China Regenerative Medicine International (CRMI) and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance.

On-going projects in the Technology Centre are using an engineering approach to develop technologies that will facilitate stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine. You will be responsible for culturing human mesenchymal stem cells in varieties of conditions, monitoring, recording and evaluating the cell performance, preparing nucleotide extractions for genome and transcriptome analyses, and carrying out experiments to validate bioinformatics findings qualitatively and quantitatively. 

A PhD (or near completion) in molecular biology or a related area is required. Experimental skills of nucleotide handling and measuring, including cell DNA and RNA extractions from tissue culture matrices, spectrophotometer measurements, gel electrophoreses, PCR/RT-PCR/qPCR analyses are essential. Knowledge and experience of mesenchymal stem cells is desirable but not essential.
