Research Fund Development Officer

Salary: £28,452 – £32,004 per annum (pro-rata if part time) together with USS pension benefits, if required.

This new post will play a role in the CoE's future development by contributing to our ambitious research funding strategy, focusing on public and industrial funding streams and delivering its implementation by supporting the CoE academics and their engagement with industry partners to identify their needs and requirements and to prepare appropriate high quality funding applications.

The primary purpose of the role is to contribute to, or drive, or initiate the development of high quality research funding applications, working with industrial partners and external grant-funding bodies.

The role combines technical communication, proposal development, marketing and copywriting and the post-holder will have the ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and effectively to a range of audiences. The post-holder will work with the Director of IMPACT, Principal Investigators and industrial collaborators to proactively prepare, shape, draft and edit funding applications, ensuring that they are well written, of a high quality and accessible to funding awarding bodies.

Working in a team, the role-holder will support activities to identify appropriate funding calls and support prioritising CoE responses to external funding opportunities in conjunction with potential PIs, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures, and funding providers’ guidelines.

The role will require knowledge of funding bodies’ requirements, including, but not limited to, WEFO, EPSRC, Innovate UK, Welsh Government, UK Government, EC and relevant industrial partners. The post-holder should have the ability to adapt to nuances of style depending upon funder type. Applicants with a relevant background in academia or industry are encouraged to apply.
