The appointment will be on UCL Grade. The salary range will be Appointment will be made on the Consultant Clinical Academic scale (currently £78,923 - £105,652 per annum, according to seniority and including London Allowance) or non-clinical professorial pay scale (competitive but not less than £67,885 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology invites applications for the position of Director of the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU).

The appointee will be responsible for leading this internationally recognised CTU through the next stages in its growth, building the portfolio of studies funded through competitive grants and facilitating positive relationships with commercial and non-commercial funders. The Director will:

develop and manage the Unit’s multidisciplinary team; progress the current hub and spoke model to facilitate high quality trial development in key research areas; support the expansion of research in the area of early phase trials and maintain the impetus for later phase trials; and exercise a key leadership role in the development of the UCL Clinical Trials.

The role is open to clinical or non-clinical staff.

This is a senior position in the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology, and securing the right individual is key to ensuring that the CCTU is provided with strong and seamless leadership through a period of transition.

Applicants will have a clear understanding of academic and strategic management with the capability and capacity to manage people and complex relationships. Substantial experience in conducting and leading the management of clinical trials and a track record of leading or participating in successful application for major grants from third parties is essential. Recognized experience, training and expertise in clinical trials research and proven experience of leadership and excellence in teaching and course development are desirable.
