Research Associate: Spatial Data

Salary Range: £36,070 - £43,350 annum*

(Maximum salary on appointment will be £36,070 per annum)

Full time, fixed term appointment until 21 September 2018 to start as soon as possible

The Department of Computing is a leading department of Computer Science among UK Universities. It has consistently been awarded the highest research rating (5*) in Research Excellence Framework (REF), coming in 3rd in the 2013 REF, and was rated as “Excellent” in the previous national assessment of teaching quality.

We are seeking to hire one postdoctoral researcher in the broad area of spatial data management and data science, conducting research on massively parallel data analytics. The work will focus on spatial data and high impact interdisciplinary research, contributing to the development of ground breaking and novel data management techniques strongly motivated and used in other disciplines.

The successful candidate will have experience and interest in the following areas: spatial data management, spatial indexing & analytics, large-scale spatial data analysis, and data science/analytics. You will work closely with PhD students and support teaching efforts of the group.

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area. You must also have excellent communication skills and prioritise work to meet deadlines. Please note that only candidates with publications in the relevant areas will be considered. All applicants must be fluent in spoken and written English.

This post will be based at the South Kensington Campus.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £31,740 - £33,370 per annum.
