Clinical Teaching Fellow (Medical Education)

Duties and Responsibilities
These full time Clinical Teaching/Training Fellow posts have been established to develop the career of trainees with an interest in Medical Education. The posts will be based in the Medical School at the University of Birmingham on the Edgbaston Campus. The main duties of the post holders will be in developing and quality assuring materials for the eLearning environment, to assist in the development of a newly commissioned clinical skills / simulation suite, and to facilitate teaching and assessment activities for the MBChB programme. If appropriate to the post holders, honorary NHS appointments will be sought with one of the local education providers in order to maintain clinical competency during the time in these posts. The post holders will be expected to undertake a funded Postgraduate Certification in Education for Health Professionals run at the University if this level of qualification has not been previously obtained. There will also be opportunity for developing research interests in medical education. The posts are designed for those wishing to develop a career in a medical education and would be particularly suitable for trainees immediately prior to or currently in a specialty training post.

These posts are initially for twelve months at 1 FTE and would be suitable for a job share.

Key Requirements
The successful candidate would be expected to have full GMC registration and a minimum of 2 years full time post graduate training / experience after graduation (or its equivalent gained on a part time basis). Experience of teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, including experience in medical assessments, is desirable.
