IT Security Engineer

The Information Technology department at the University of Reading is looking to expand its provision of information security services, to meet the future needs of the University, by building a security capability within the Infrastructure Services team.

The role of IT Security Engineer is to provide expert security guidance to the wider Core Systems Team as well as the wider department and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets. The objective being to take responsibility for high quality service delivery.

You will have:

  • Security certification (e.g. CISM)
  • Knowledge of security principles for core IT infrastructure
  • Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g. Cyber Essentials or ISO27001)
  • Experience in securing core centralised storage, server and services within a large and complex environment
  • Proven ability to manage a variety of security systems and services
