The centrally based Learning Technology team works to implement and develop the strategic use of the digital to innovate teaching and learning, develop the curriculum and enhance the student learning experience, in support of the overall University and Faculty plans.

As part of that team, the University Learning Technologist takes an institution wide view of the work of the team. This includes promoting the user experience of the core TEL technologies (currently Moodle, Turnitin Feedback Studio, Panopto and Mahara), taking a proactive role on TEL related projects, promoting best practice by organising forums on a range of learning technology issues, providing elearning data and working closely with the Faculty Learning Technologists to deliver the team goals.

As University Learning Technologist you will:

  • Take a proactive role in a variety of current and future cross-institutional projects, such as lecture recording, development of digital literacies, analytics for learning design or digital learning spaces.
  • Design and deliver continuing professional development workshops, seminars and discussion forums on a range of learning technology issues.
  • Develop and maintain the e-learning website and blogs, and produce a range of resources on learning technologies, including case studies, for use by academic staff.
  • Gather and analyse data, and help maintain records of University use of e-learning, to inform decision making.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A first degree or equivalent.
  • Considerable experience supporting the use of learning technologies in HE and a virtual learning environment in particular.
  • Necessary technical, communication and problem solving skills to effectively assist academic and support staff with learning technology related queries.
  • Ability to deliver one-to-one and group training sessions, and to give presentations to a large audience.
  • The ability to identify needs in learning and teaching and to creatively find solutions in collaboration with academic colleagues.

The Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching aims to promote a high quality educational experience by providing professional development for academic staff, educational development through curriculum innovation, quality assurance and management, academic advice and guidance for students.
