University of Edinburgh - Centre for Dementia Prevention - Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences

£26,829 - £31,076 p.a. 17.5 hours per week – fixed term for 1 year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new role within the Centre for Dementia Prevention (CDP) at the University of Edinburgh. CDP was established in 2015 within the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences and undertakes globally important research across the three domains of clinical, fundamental and social sciences relevant to dementia prevention. This post will be concerned primarily with the clinical research portfolio. This portfolio has numerous projects from both public and commercial funders with total annualised funding in excess of £20M per annum. Supporting the CDP Director to manage and report on the CDP’s financial position and support business decisions is a key component of this post’s role. The post holder will work closely within other financial and management structures within CCBS.

Requirements for this post are:

  • Significant experience in a financial position requiring business/financial planning
  • Qualification to HNC/HND level or equivalent
  • High level of numeracy, confidence dealing with financial matters
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to problem-solve
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including report writing and data presentation to committees
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively to ensure the successful delivery of concurrent tasks by deadlines
  • Proficient with the use of MS Office packages including Word and Excel
  • Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to build friendly relationships, be accessible and deal with enquiries in a professional, sensitive and timely manner
