Staff Tutor in Environmental Management

Open University - Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics; School of Engineering & Innovation

As an academic member of staff in the School of Engineering & Innovation, you will provide an important link between staff in Milton Keynes, our Student Support Teams, our part-time Associate Lecturers (distributed across the UK and Ireland) and students, located globally.

You will have a key role in ensuring we remain at the forefront of supported online and distance education, particularly in facilitating effective teaching of programmes owned by the School of Engineering & Innovation. In particular, you will be responsible for the management and development of part-time Associate Lecturers teaching Environmental Management and other curriculum areas in the Engineering & Innovation programme.

You will have a good Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Technology, Engineering or a related area. You will also have specialist knowledge in Environmental Management or a closely related area, demonstrated by a relevant postgraduate qualification, research publications or professional experience/membership of an appropriate professional body. Ideally you will also have an interest in the use of systems approaches within environmental management.

You will be homebased, some evening/weekend work may be required in this role and you will be expected to travel to Milton Keynes and to other locations as necessary. While not essential, we are particularly looking to appoint a candidate able to support our Associate Lecturers and students in the south-west of England, Wales and/or the West Midlands.

You must be committed to the principles of equality and diversity in all aspects of your teaching and management support. Experience of online and/or distance education would be desirable.

The University is proud to have gained an Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award in 2013, while the School is proud to have gained an Athena SWAN Departmental Bronze Award in 2016.
