Laboratory Manager

We are seeking to appoint a well-trained, enthusiastic and self-motivated Laboratory Manager to join our Wellcome Trust funded research team in the Robertson Laboratory. The major role will be to efficiently and flexibly manage the day-to-day running of the Laboratory. The appointee will work closely with Professor Elizabeth Robertson on all aspects of the management of the group. The post-holder will be directly involved in supporting the research group e.g. preparation and archiving of reagents, oversight of the up-keep and servicing of major equipment, oversight and monitoring of the ordering, ensuring all computers are up-graded, and management of data bases and lab server space. In addition the postholder will be responsible for documenting Health and Safety compliance and also liaise with Biomedical Services.

Good organisational and communication skills are essential. The postholder must have proven abilities to work closely with others as part of an effective team. It is expected that the postholder will help train PhD students and new comers to the laboratory. The job will also include the opportunity to establish and optimise protocols, perform hands-on research using molecular biological techniques and contribute data and assist with manuscript preparation. Attend Scientific Meetings and Courses as and when required.
