Research Assistant/Associate in Fibre Electronics Modelling and Simulation (Fixed Term)

A position is available for a Research Assistant/Associate to work on modelling and simulation of fibre electronics. The project is funded by The European Commission under the H-2020 Programme and will involve high degrees of collaboration with multiple partner institutes. Within the project, Cambridge University will be developing new test and characterization algorithms to enable expedient modelling and simulation of fibre devices to elucidate experimentally observed characteristics.

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The successful candidate will have (or be close to obtaining) a higher degree (PhD) in electrical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in simulating and analysing compact physical models and circuit design of fibre electronics.

The key responsibilities and duties are: To generate, synthesise and validate system-scale and device-scale compact physical models to expedite fibre circuit design; Design, layout and development of fibre circuits and systems for large area E-textile applications using Spice or Verilog; Generation and implementation of innovative research ideas relevant to the development of the project; Conducting experiments independently and in collaboration with other research students and research fellows within Cambridge University and partner institutes; Timely preparation and submission of successful research results for publication; Travel to international conferences to present research results.

Salary Range: Research Assistant: £25,298 - £30,175 Research Associate: £30,175 - £38,183

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
