Salary: Grade 6, £25,298 - £29,301 per annum with the potential to progress to £32,004 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

Summary: Overview

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) is a thriving department within the University’s Faculty of Engineering, and has 40 academic staff, 45 research staff and technicians, 20 support staff and over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Department has a vibrant research culture spanning particle science and technology/nanotechnology, new energy technologies, the environment and applications of post-genomics bioscience for biotechnology and bioprocessing applications.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is one of the national leaders in the field: it was rated in the top 5 in the latest Research Assessment Exercise (2014) when accounting for profile and volume, and nationally is 2nd in terms of research income. The department currently has around 40 academics, supported by 21 Technical and 25 administrative staff. One of seven departments in the Faculty of Engineering, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering is growing rapidly, and currently has 58 Postdoctoral Research Staff.

We are looking for a versatile and motivated team player to join our newly established Research Cluster Team (post award) who will report directly to the Departmental Administration Managers. You will need to be self-motivated, with ability to self-generate and work independently on your own initiative.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all financial aspects of post award research support for grants and contracts, across both departments. By ensuring that active grants are administered in accordance with the funders’ conditions and University regulations and that financial procedures are adhered to at all times.

Applicants should be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), they should have a good attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. You will also be able to demonstrate good communication skills both face to face and in writing.
