Fixed term until 30 November 2018.

You will undertake research on an EPSRC Project, which is in collaboration with the University of Nottingham and the University of Sheffield, to assist the Principal Investigator and project partners in the successful execution of the project. You will undertake independent and collaborative research and will be expected to write up your research for publication. You will be expected to deal with any management/administration problems that may arise from the project and produce and present regular project reports ensuring that the project objectives and deadlines are met.

The main task of the Research Fellow is to conduct dynamic modelling, simulation and optimisation study of ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized bed power plants. The applicants should have the first degree in thermal and power engineering or a related subject area and a PhD degree in the research area of thermal and power engineering or process control. The successful candidate should demonstrate good computer programming skill, research experience in dynamic modelling, and potential for conducting high standard research work leading to first class publications. Evidence of high self-motivation, excellent communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines and within a team are essential.

If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure.
