Oxford Brookes University traces its own history back over 150 years to the foundation of the Oxford School of Art and is now known internationally as one of the leading modern universities in the country. Oxford Brookes Business School is just about to embark on an exciting new phase of its development, with a move in August 2017 to a newly developed building on the Headington Campus at the heart of the University. There we will have the opportunity to further improve our already excellent programmes of study, while continuing to contribute to society through our research, our international engagement and our involvement with the regional business community.

The Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics is a vibrant part of the Business School. It is responsible for on-campus and international programmes, and has two research clusters, the largest being Applied Economics, Finance and Development. Our aim for research is to support the University strategies of both undertaking research which is, or has the potential to be, recognised as world leading; and also increasing the exploitation and dissemination of the highest quality research.

We are now seeking a talented individual to join our academic team in implementing this vision, either in a full-time or part-time role. Candidates will have produced a substantial body of high-quality peer reviewed publications in areas relevant to the existing research cluster: Applied Economics, Finance and Development. They will also have developed a national, and an emerging international reputation for research and scholarship, will have a record of good teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and will have supervised PhD students to successful completion.

You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking a leadership role for research
  • Undertaking relevant research and other forms of scholarly activity, developing national and international recognition in the peer community
  • Leading peer reviewed funding bids which develop and sustain research in economics
  • Developing, leading, delivering and assessing modules in the fields of economics and/or finance
  • Supervising students and staff engaged on higher degree work by research.

You should have:

  • PhD in relevant field or equivalent
  • Production of a substantial body of high-quality peer reviewed publications in areas relevant to the existing research cluster: Applied Economics, Finance and Development
  • The development of a national, and an emerging international reputation for research and scholarship
  • A record of good teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
