Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant to work on the ‘Measuring Quality in Initial Teacher Education’ (MQuITE) project at Moray House School of Education. MQuITE is a collaborative project funded by Scottish Government, supported by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), and involving all 8 Scottish universities that provide teacher education. This is a longitudinal project which seeks to involve all stakeholders in developing a contextually-appropriate means of measuring quality in initial teacher education in Scotland. It is led by Dr Aileen Kennedy, University of Edinburgh and Dr Paul Adams, University of Strathclyde.

The post holder will conduct, manage and write up MQuITE research, and engage in dissemination activities. You will have an appropriate degree and a doctorate in education or a relevant social science. You will have a good understanding of teacher education research and will have relevant knowledge of the Scottish teacher education sector.

The post is part-time (10.5 hours per week) and is fixed-term, initially for 7 months, although the MQuITE project will run until 2022 and this post will be extended as further phases of funding are released by Scottish Government.
