Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Metabolism

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research scientist to work in Associate Professor Heidi de Wet’s lab on a project focused on the investigation of the role of ABC transporter activity in hormone exocytosis from gut endocrine cells.

You will join a small dynamic team that employs a broad range of techniques aimed at understanding the integrated biology of energy homeostasis and gut hormone secretion coupling, studied at the molecular, cellular and whole organism level. Techniques will include: in vivo metabolic phenotyping of model knock-out mice, confocal and fluorescent light microscopy, electron microscopy and correlative light and electron microscopy, Western blotting and ELISA, qPCR and metabolomics.

You will have a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with extensive experience in (one of) the fields of cell biology, protein biochemistry or metabolism/metabolomics with experience in working with membrane proteins (channels, transporters or GPCRs). You will demonstrate technical competence in fluorescent microscopy techniques, cell culture and protein biochemistry techniques such as Western blotting and the investigation of cell signaling cascades. Experience in molecular biology such as qPCR and immunohistochemical techniques, such as ELISA is desirable.

The post is funded by BBSRC until 30 October 2020. The postholder will be based in the Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3PT.
