We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow to take an active role in the design and execution of clinical trials of investigational vaccines against malaria within the Transmission-Blocking and Blood-stage Malaria Vaccine Groups.

You will be responsible for clinical input into the trial design and execution, working closely with the clinical trials team, developing study protocols, ethical applications, advertising and recruitment, data management and analysis as well as screening and vaccination of volunteers. You will be highly organised and motivated.

You will have completed your Foundation Year 1 and 2 training and you will be fully GMC registered and permitted to practice medicine in the UK. You may have commenced or completed Core Medical Training or medical specialty equivalent. Holding a MRCP or MRCS would be an advantage.

You will have excellent communication skills, immaculate attention to detail, and good organisation and time management skills. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to be comfortable and confident interacting with subjects and patients in a research study, including clinical research co-ordinators and other team members, laboratory and administrative staff, monitors, industry collaborators, clinical trial auditors and the broader research community. You should also be confident utilising IT and databases.

Previous laboratory and clinical trial experience, including ethics, GCP and documentation would be beneficial. Knowledge of immunology would be an advantage.

This post will provide invaluable experience for you if you are considering taking time out of clinical medicine to study for a higher degree. We are also offering you an excellent base from which you could apply for Training Fellowship funding.
