UCL HereEast, a new R&D facility on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, is searching for an innovative and enterprising person to fill the role of Structures Technician to support the teaching and research activities based there. You will be joining a newly established technical support team for this exciting new enterprise.

We are looking for a person from an established Structures/Mechanics background, with good electronics skills, who can provide inputs to a range of activities. You must have a flexible approach, demonstrating your ability to deliver solutions to complex problems and to quickly master new techniques.

The post is permanent and due to commence as soon as possible

The successful candidate will have an HNC, or undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in civil engineering or mechanics. He/she will be required to take an active role in the choice of technologies and techniques used in fabrication, instrumentation and testing to failure of specimens across a spectrum of scales, from hand-held to life-size. They must also be familiar with environmental and/or dynamics testing equipment and data acquisition systems as well as experienced in management of transactions with external suppliers as required to take a laboratory project to successful and timely conclusion.
