UCL’s Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering offers a range of degree programmes in various specialisations, including an undergraduate minor degree stream in Environmental Engineering and an MSc in Environmental Systems Engineering, as well as conducting multidisciplinary research. Our world-class Environmental Engineering research covers a wide range of interests from drinking, wastewater and waste management, sustainable urban development and the circular economy, including air, water and land pollution, and materials and energy efficiency issues. Much of our research is in collaboration with industry and academics in other disciplines, and includes conceptual, modelling, laboratory- and field-based activities.

The post of Laboratory Technician, is available at UCL to support activities in the Chadwick Environmental Engineering Laboratory.

The candidate should be prepared to assist students and other laboratory users in all areas of environmental engineering laboratory work, with an emphasis on maintaining a safe and sustainable working environment. The postholder will also participate in laboratory skills teaching and problem-based learning for undergraduate students.

The post is due to start on 1 October 2017

The candidate must be experienced in environmental chemistry and biology, preferably with direct experience with chemical analytical methods, as well as capable of general laboratory maintenance for teaching and research, developing and maintaining pilot plant and bench scale experiments, and developing analytical services for external users. The candidate will possess a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline with considerable experience in research methods
