Salary: £49,772 to £59,400 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University of Nottingham seeks applications for a full-time Associate Professor in Sport and Excerise Engineering to lead research in the area of human performance or sports engineering at the University and to contribute to teaching on the BSc in Sport and Exercise Science to be launched in September 2018 . The successful applicant will be expected to have developed a substantial research track record and be a principal investigator on major research projects in the relevant field and be able to identify opportunities for the development of new research projects and collaborations within the Faculty of Engineering, wider University research framework, and outside the University.

The appointment will be based within the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and the role holder will take responsibility for the design and quality of courses/programmes, to maintain high teaching standards and contribute to delivery and assessments in the BSc in Sport and Exercise Science led by the School of Life Sciences and other teaching in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering as required.

The role holder may have line management responsibilites including the responsibility for the professional development of junior colleagues and contribute to the overall administration of the Department.

Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area. A strong publication record, experience of supervision and pastoral care of students at all levels along with demonstrated success in delivering teaching within an agreed quality framework is also required. An excellent track record in research evidenced by first and senior author of original, peer reviewed publications is essential. A history of securing research grant incomes as a principal investigator.

This role is a full time permanent position starting 1st April 2018.
